Life Aquatic and Buttermilk Chicken Burger

Life Aquatic Burger, with the Buttermilk Chicken Burger hiding in the background.

I can’t stop visiting SoLIta. I walk around the Northern Quarter, look at the many eating establishments, but eventually find myself holding a SoLIta menu. So it was that I ended up ordering their new ‘Life Aquatic’ burger this Easter Sunday.

I’ve written about SoLIta on a couple of other occasions so this article is merely a short addition to the newly-formalised quest for the perfect burger. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I can confirm that the Life Aquatic burger is fantastic. I was dubious, and always have been, about the Surf’n’Turf idea but SoLIta have created a truly delicious burger. The dressed crab was, against all my expectations, a wonderful accompaniment to the chuck-steak and bone-marrow patty. The skewer of shrimp was a nice touch and they were perfectly deep-fried, without being oily. This invention, and the other burgers on SoLIta’s menu, place them firmly in the lead – in terms of the quest for the perfect burger.

As an aside, my friend ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger and could not have been happier with his choice; in particular, he loved dipping his chips into the chicken gravy that came with it.

I will, no doubt, return to SoLIta and I look forward to sampling their future creations.
